Fans put the Rage in Outrageous!

Last week we were given the first trailer for the new live action Jem adaptation.

To put it nicely, fans were not pleased.

I was aggravated enough that, after watching it the first time, I was in a bad mood for the rest of the night.

What gets me is that they made a point to get fan input early on in the production. I even bought into it and followed their news regularly. Yet other than their names, and to an extent their relationships to one another, nothing in the trailer stood out as Jem and the Holograms. It was a major let down and did not feel truly outrageous in any way.

Yes, they want to update the story. I can deal with the YouTube angle and the Lady Gaga/Miley Cyrus wannabe style. I can even forgive that they turned Eric Raymond into Erica Raymond. However, with all things taken together as a whole, everything I have been shown thus far tells me they've failed.

They've failed big time.

Let's call it a day and book the Limp Lizards.

PZ85 Updates

In case you missed them, Podzilla 1985 saw two updates at the end of the week that will have you forgetting all about that whole "Zach quitting" fiasco that never really went anywhere.

On Thursday, our old buddy Tanner...was nowhere to be seen. Instead, BZ85 lead writer Lindsey joined the show to finally do their much awaited episode about classic anime Sailor Moon.

On Saturday Double H and Zach were on the show covering topics like David Letterman to porn, and everything in between. Also, it was a wrestling show! Somehow! Hilarity ensues, as usual. Plus, is TNA shutting down for good? Listen here to get the most recent details!

Through Hell Fire, Brimstone, and Corporate Retreats.

I love professional wrestling.

I have been a fan since I was seven years old. There would be stretches of time that I wouldn't pay as much attention to the shows themselves, but I would always keep track of the various stories being told. As a kid I completely thought that wrestling was real. These men were competing in a legitimate contest to see who was the best athlete. As I grew up I began to have a better understanding of what wrestling really is. I was able to choose my favorite performers based on their matches and their interviews, instead of just who the shows were telling me who I should root for. Over time my favorites have changed, but there has been one constant in my almost 20 years of being a fan.

The Devil's Favorite Demon, The Big Red Machine Kane.

My introduction, and love for, professional wrestling came from an unlikely place. As a kid, I was obsessed with action figures. I had boxes of them; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, heroes and villains from Marvel and DC comics, and anything in between. My friends and I would have giant wars using them with the fate of the entire universe hanging in the balance.

One day, my friend Andre brought over a couple of his figures to join the good fight against the forces of evil. One of these toys stood out from the rest, it was bigger and more detailed than the others. It was an action figure of the WWE(F)'s Undertaker, and I immediately needed to know more. It wasn't until later that year when I was invited to watch Summerslam '96 at his house that I would finally get to see this dark, creepy, tattooed character in action.

The Undertaker fought Mankind inside of a boiler room. I enjoyed the Boiler Room Brawl, and the show as a whole, but it wasn't until the following year that I became obsessed with the sport.

Muppet News Flash!

When most people hear the name "Muppets," images of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy inevitably come to mind. Being a child of the 80's, I also tend to include the characters from Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock into the group.

Most Henson creations generally fall into this lot for me, and these various characters have been popping up right and left in entertainment news.

Back in March there was an update on the Fraggle Rock movie that saw Joseph Gordon Levitt attach his name to the project. There is a new Sesame Street movie in the works as well, and our beloved Muppet Show cast is returning to prime time TV with an all new show!

The news that I'm the most excited for right now is the premier of a new documentary - "I am Big Bird," which is a look at the man behind our favorite eight foot tall bird.

Since 1969, Caroll Spinney has brought life to two of my favorite Sesame Street characters - Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. At age 81 he is still preforming these beloved icons and has no intention on stopping.

That's 46 years, and counting! *insert The Count laugh here*

It's an amazing track record and shows the longevity of these characters. It's funny to think that Sesame Street started off as an experiment and is still going strong today.

You can learn more about the film, including screening locations and dates, at www.iambigbird.com

I might try and get some of the Podzilla 1985 and Pentanerd cast to make a road trip to Memphis to see this. Though July is a long way away when I could just buy it on iTunes.

One way or another, I plan to check it out and suggest that all Muppet fans do so as well.

Fuller House: Too Much or Just What We Need?

News has been buzzing for a while with rumors of a Full House spin off. They were made official by John Stamos a few weeks ago on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and Netflix has opted in for a thirteen episode series scheduled for 2016. Stamos will be producing the series and guest staring from time to time as his character Uncle Jesse.

However, the main story is going to focus on D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), who is pregnant and recently widowed. She needs some help at home raising her two kids with a third on the way. Her younger sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber) move in to help. Kimmy also brings along her own teenage daughter, making it once again a household of six.

For the time being at least.

I grew up with Full House. It was one of my favorite shows and I was legitimately sad when it ended. However, I don't know how I feel about this new take on it. I like that they have original cast members returning, because that's always a positive.

But with this set up, will it just be a rehashing of the past?

Podzilla 1985 Covers the Baltimore Riots

Podzilla 1985 has updated with our most important show yet. Seanán welcomes Pentanerd's Jesse and a very special guest to discuss Freddie Gray, today's announcement that the officers involved were arrested, protesters, looters, and much more. It's an open, frank, and intense discussion between three passionate human beings about a subject that should concern us all.
