WWE News, Notes, and Rants for 7/1

Let's get this out of the way now, because I didn't believe it at first but it has been confirmed by TMZ. NXT star and WWE space filler Emma was arrested in Hartford, Connecticut yesterday. Now we know where she was during that awful Santino/Rose segment!

So what was she arrested for? She stole an iPad case from Wal Mart! I knew these are desperate times in the WWE, but I didn't know it was that bad. I don't care how low you are on the totem pole, a job with a major company like World Wrestling Entertainment should provide you with enough money to buy an iPad case valued around twenty dollars.

In her defense, she did pay for her other items and says she simply forgot to pay for the item in the self checkout line. I've used those lines before, and as confusing and ill working as they may be sometimes, they are designed to detect weight and the number of items you scanned in. There is no way she put it in the bag and forgot to add it in. On the other hand, it wouldn't make much sense for her to pay for everything else and risk her job over an iPad case. This is a strange situation. She's already been through the system and now owes some community service.

So what's the backlash here? Honestly, I doubt she gets anything more than a slap on the wrist for this. It's not like she got busted for a DUI right in the middle of a push, like a certain REAL American. His world title push was quickly demoted into a lower to mid card angle that has somehow grown immensely in popularity. Although, I chalk that up to the wit and ability of Zeb more than Jack. Still, if your choice is either hunt for the title and job out to Cena consistently or be over huge with the crowd, which would you pick?

It's more akin to WWE diva Cameron, who also got busted for a DUI and didn't really suffer much for it at all. There's not much worse they can do to the divas that their poor writing and sexist attitude hasn't already done.

So, did you enjoy RAW? Of course you didn't. No one is reading this hoping I praise that company. You want to know why I'm pissed off this time. Alright then, how about we dive right in?

I hope they at least paid for Paige's cab back to Full Sail University. You want to see a sure thing become an afterthought? The way they booked Paige in NXT was borderline perfect. So why is it that when they bring these guys up to the majors they feel the need to either dumb them down, make them look weak, or just completely job them out? Rusev aside, as they've done a hell of a job making him credible, you've got talent like Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, and even Emma kind of doing the same thing they were doing, but somehow less effectively.

But all of them pale in comparison to Paige. At least everyone else wins in a convincing manner, even if they've lost the point of their character. Paige, the pale Brit ass kicking anti-diva, has turned into a soft spoken novice who is lucky to beat even the most underutilized diva. They've completely abandoned what got her to the show, and in the process they turned what could have been the next Lita into a gimmick that hovers just about Colin Delaney in terms of dominance.

And who did she lose to? AJ Lee. They, for whatever reason, decided that the only person capable of beating Paige is the only diva that's even smaller than her. Forget Natalya, Tamina, and even Alicia Fox or Naomi. AJ Lee, who hasn't had an interesting character since before she became RAW GM, took out the champ in about the same time it took her to lose it to the same person.

Also, before anyone complains that AJ and Paige are awesome wrestlers and could have the best diva fued in years, shut your cake hole. Where is the proof? It doesn't matter what either of them did before. To the average fan, and especially the new fans, all they care about is what they see now. All they've seen for the past few months is AJ Lee losing the title within a minute, and then person that beat her for it getting her ass kicked over and over and over again and barely squeaking out a victory each time.

Why would anyone care about a fued between these two based on the characters they've portrayed on the main shows? The WWE machine has written these ladies so poorly that I've lost all interest in them, and that is a shame because they are both immensely talented. They could still salvage it, but my faith is extremely limited in their ability to do so.

Also, do you think they really have that much faith in AJ Lee, or is it another desperate attempt to win back CM Punks favor? If it is, shame on them. Let CM Punk rot.

Did you hear the sound of the Rhodes boys ships sinking deeper into the water? As odd and intriguing as Stardust is, if I see them fight Rybaxel one more goddamn time I'm going to dig up Mr. Perfect and hold his bones for ransom until they stop this pointless "feud."

And that brings me to my main point. Why do we have to see the same people fight each other every single week? In the course of a three hour show, that leads to a lot of the same matches over and over again. Once the PPV rolls around I could care less about the feuds since I've already seen it on RAW, Smackdown, Main Event, NXT, HEAT, Velocity, Jakked, Shotgun Saturday Night, etc etc.

I know Vince future endeavored a lot of wrestlers in the past year, but they still have so many viable options for feuds and TV time that they never use. Why do I have to see the Rhodes brothers fight Rybaxel every week when you could put Zack Ryder on TV? Remember him? What about Justin Gabriel? In fact, here is a list of every wrestler I can of just off the top of my head that aren't used on TV, despite having tons of time and chances to use them instead of the same eight guys.

  • Zack Ryder
  • Justin Gabriel
  • Titus O'Neil
  • Alex Riley
  • David Otunga
  • Heath Slater
  • Hunico
  • Tensai
  • R Truth
  • Rosa Mendes
  • Sin Cara
  • Tamina
  • Tyson Kidd
  • Xavier Woods
A lot of the ones that even make it to TV are just torn apart and made to look insignificant. How does that make anyone money? It's so ridiculous that someday people will believe it never happened. It's the complete opposite of the Attitude Era, when even the lower card guys had fun storylines and were made to at least seem like a credible threat. Where do you think a guy like Crash Holly would be in today's WWE? He'd be jobbing to Rusev every other week, whenever Zack Ryder wasn't available.

Unless they hire some more minorities, anyway. Rusev doesn't seem to like those kind of people.

And that list doesn't even take into consideration all of the talent they could call up from NXT. There is literally a superstar making machine in the WWE now, and it's called the WWE Performance Center. So why do I have to watch Randy Orton lock up with John Cena AGAIN? Why do I have to see the Rhodes beat Rybaxel AGAIN?

It's baffling. I'm so close to being done. They say wrestling goes in cycles, and I feel like my cycle is very close to being over. I usually only watch highlights and PPV's now, and at this rate I could see that diminishing to just PPV's and reading results. I actually enjoy complaining about it more than watching it these days.

Of course, there is one way to bring me back into the fold and make me a believer again.

Make it happen.

You owe me!!!
